What a traumatic experience.
First quoted $17K to move from Michigan to California then after we balked, dropped the price to 12K.
Salesman was brief and under estimated the load by 4K pounds, which we later learned only screws the truck driver as he's independently hired through North American Van Lines.
Day of load, not all of our things fit on the 1st truck "surprise" (Angelo the driver was awesome, thorough and organized) other than some plates being broken which we could have packed better, everything else arrived safe, secure and on time at our new home. The loading crew did an amazing job of wrapping, protecting and loading our furniture.
Anyway the office sent out a smaller box truck to load the remaining items which included a lot of my tools and two e-bikes which they assured us would be wrapped once they got back to the local warehouse.
They weren't wrapped at all and when we finally got the second load 3 weeks later, they were severely damaged. Not only that, someone got into my rolling toolboxes and stole my entire set of wratcheting wrenches, drill bits and a Snap On socket set. Since one of the cost saving items we opted for was a larger $500 deductible we're basically screwed. Michelle at the office did a great job communicating while we were being loaded and through our 1st delivery but for the second load not so much, we had to basically call every day just to find out when the remainder of our things would arrive. (To their credit we did have a 10 day vacation in that period which we were not able to take delivery)
My advice to anyone moving is pack your stuff thoroughly or pay them 5k to do it and shrink wrap or seal up anything valuable to make it more difficult and obvious if someone gets into it.
Angelo was our North American Van Lines driver, we give him 5 stars
University Moving and Storage 2 stars unless they stole my stuff, then negative 100 stars
Second Load Driver and crew Rodolfo in CA didn't speak hardly any English but did a good job unloading. 4 stars unless they stole my stuff then negative 100 stars

Jonathan was very patient with me when scheduling our pick up. I really appreciated his willingness to find the best date for us. When the men arrived the weather was terrible and the snow kept piling up. Doug and Thompson were very quick, efficient and friendly. It was a real pleasure working with the team at University Moving and Storage. We would definitely call them again. Thanks guys!! Have a safe and prosperous New Year.

The University Moving and Storage guys who delivered our boxes today were excellent!
Jonathan scheduled our delivery over the phone and by email and was super polite and kept in touch with us on and before the delivery.
Then Thompson and Doug came by and did the actual delivery. Both guys were very kind, again super polite, asked where we wanted the boxes, and did a wonderful job. Definitely recommend these guys, great experience.
Thank you!

Jesse, Joseph, Roy, Ian, Wito, Bryce, Casey, and the team were fantastic! Incredibly hardworking doing a job that is absolutely back-breaking.
Work was highly appreciated and their willingness to come back and pick up the boxes post-move was incredibly helpful.
There were some mix-ups with hardware when reassembling some of our goods, but that is understandable as they did not pack our goods on the departure end. Would use them in the future!
